Pointer-Controlled Games: Click, Select and Stabilize
A click can select a branch, place a building, route a boat or confirm a scan. Check when an action commits, whether it can be reversed and what still requires a key.
Four core tasks, four different meanings of a click
Choose a waiting colored boat, then send it to its matching open port.
Pointer operation and keyboard limits
Two pointer selections: boat first, port second. A wrong port clears the boat selection.
Goal and failure
Deliver fifteen boats within 90 seconds before five timeouts. Waiting boats expire after twelve seconds; storms can block a destination.
The core progress actions can be performed with a pointer. That does not make every optional action pointer-only: Signal Bloom's latest-link undo is bound to Z or Backspace. This collection does not certify one-handed ease, motor accessibility or every trackpad gesture.
Select first; inspect before committing
In Signal Bloom, clicking an active node changes the selected branch. The following inactive node is tested against that branch's range and the remaining signal budget. Repeatedly clicking an unreachable target does not improve the route. Select a nearer active branch.
In Tiny Dominion, selecting a building does not use a turn. A valid empty-land placement does, and cannot be undone. Inspect the selector and cell before committing. An occupied cell or water tile rejects the action without consuming another turn.
In Glass Harbor, the selected waiting boat needs a matching destination. Wrong-port input costs the boat 2.5 seconds and clears selection; select the boat again before a correction. A matching port can still be closed by a storm, so read its state as well as its color.
A visible anomaly is not a completed scan
In Zero Cartographer, keep the anomaly close to the lens centre while its scan builds. The outside of the lens can reveal a target that is too far from the centre to charge.
With a mouse, moving positions the lens and clicking confirms. With touch, keep the finger down while positioning and stabilizing; release to confirm. The current touch input no longer confirms on the initial touch. Releasing before stability still costs four seconds.
The node is visible but the link is rejected
The selected active branch must be less than 205 game units away, and its link cost must fit the remaining signal. Change the active branch before retrying. Undo remains a keyboard action.
The building selector changed, but nothing was placed
That first click only selects the building. Click an empty land cell to place it. Check the resulting FOOD, DEF and JOY together; clicking the selector alone cannot complete the board.
Clicks on the harbor no longer route my boat
Check whether a waiting boat is selected, whether the port matches its color and whether the storm has closed the port. A wrong destination cancels selection; a closed port cannot receive the boat yet.
The scan fails after a quick tap
A quick touch and release may confirm before stability. Hold near the anomaly until the scan builds, then release. Moving between visible targets and immediately releasing is not a successful charting action.
Checked 13 October 2026 against the four current native runtimes. This review includes normal Signal Bloom completion, a Tiny Dominion board completion, one correct Glass Harbor delivery and one genuine touch scan; it does not claim every goal was completed on every input device. Other language introductions remain in their own review queue.
